Had a hit on my #10 120 can set the trap was missing the area was not disturbed the swivel was under the can. I figured the 120 would hang up in the trash dump or brush piles but I looked twice but found nothing.

Theft? You would think if something was alive long enough to break something that it would have left some sign of struggle.

Instant failure cages and other traps were close by still there why remove the swivel if you could lift the can off the stake and take it all. One bungee cord was still there the other was missing also.

Your only anchoring was the bungee cord???

That set would catch and hold every animal in the area,,, everything,,, by the foot. I'd assume the stop pulled off the cable? A big k9 or big cat could get a big pull on it.

There’s a cable that comes with the Belisles that has a snare type swivel on the end that get staked yes the button came off the cable but with such ease the stake wasn’t even bent, it was sitting there like I set it just facing the other way. Grass was untouched not a scratch mark on the ground the cedar branch un touched just strange.

The bungee cords just held the trap in place did not expect them to survive just looking to make a better skunk trap trying some new things.

Yes I was pretty burnt out by the time I got home, I was looking for a 110 or 120 to fit in the cans the 110/120 comes in different widths.

Yes just the swivel was on the stake still I need to test the rest to see if they are holding.

I don’t believe your trap failed, just your anchoring set up.

Sounds like the end stop was not properly crimped. The cable on a belisle is 3/32 I think which has around 920 pound breaking strength. The end stop properly crimped has the same holding power.(920 lb approx.) Break away’s on snares have about 300 pound holding power. With what info you have given I would guess the end stop failed. If you bought some new belisle’s I would check all the end stops. I have caught multiple coons in belisle’s reaching in and held them.

To me that entire set up is asking for every coon that comes buy to reach inside. It is too small for him to want to stick his head in and not deep enough to keep him from reaching in. I can not see any advantage in setting that can set up, other then the can was free.

The plan is to use the set up for ditch skunks like stated just something I’m messing with I’ve taken several coon out of where I had it set it’s not a primary coon set up.

That's one thing I don't like about Belishes. Make a premium trap and then put a cable on it instead of chain. ?

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.
