I don’t think it would have held a mink the way it came apart it was a new trap never used before, just test yours before you set them is the message.

To me that entire set up is asking for every coon that comes buy to reach inside. It is too small for him to want to stick his head in and not deep enough to keep him from reaching in. I can not see any advantage in setting that can set up, other then the can was free. I agree. Your coons in ND are close enough to be related to mine….. they’re real reachy buggers here too. With hands like a monkey, they’re gonna use em if they can.

Scored a nice Pepe today in the 120 #10 cans set it gave the cable a workout wrapped it around the stake. I tested a few traps both cables were solid. Picked up a second Pepe in cage another nice one. The 120 coni one sprayed I think with a coni that is always a good chance. Seen

Maybe a reach in from a raccoon. If a 120 was on some animals head I don't think it would to far away. I searched again today lots of old rolls of fence wire and building materials dumped in the area junk all over but you could see what’s in there in most places lots of cedar snags. Just can’t see how a 120 did not tangle up in all the different snags in the area nothing was disturbed that I could find.

I don't know how many a few traps is, but I would check them all. Maybe you only have a few out, but I would still check them all. The first thing I do with Belisles is cut the cable off and put chain with three swivels.

I had 4 cans to put out to experiment with I ended up getting 3 out I still have 2 out I pulled the one with the skunk those Belisles 120s are tough to get off those curved jaws get in the way trying to compress the springs. Did not have setters with me I’m not running any other conis at this time and my fingers don’t work well from years of abuse.
Of course I’ll test everyone of them that’s the first thing I did with the set ones. The ones in the shed need to be tested next but I’m super busy ahead of this storm I was lucky to collect a bucket of dirt to wax after a long check day yesterday. I noticed the ones I tested the crimps looked weak the crimp could of been deeper. I’ll run them all through my bench crimper that bad one was probably a one off. I could go to chains that big skunk twisted up that cable on the first catch kinked the heck out of it.
