270 is the standard action. Not short action. “Starts” at 4 lbs. I take that that some calibers are heavier.

I was watching something the other day and the guy chuckled at light rifles. Said something to the effect of he never understood that. You better be in shape, you have to carry out hundreds of pounds of meat... what difference would saving a couple pounds in a rifle do or something like along those lines was his thinking.

The barrel and bolt fluting are the neatest parts to me. Whole thing is cool, I have no need for one but I'm happy an American company with American values is still trying to innovate firearms right here in the U.S

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, & I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve

When you're 5'6" and 118 lbs every bit of weight you can trim from a rifle you carry up the mountains helps.

Spouse has Featherweight 300wsm, groups like a champ.
Check your loads and tune them to the rifle.

I have a 6 lb custom 300 WinMag.
I don't do much plinkin with it.
It shoots very well at 300 yds.
I like it, but it does make my eyeball wiggle a bit.

My mark V ultra lightweight in a 6.5x300 only weighs 8.8 pounds and with a muzzle break it doesn’t kick that much.

Only..? I wouldn't consider an 8.8 pound rifle as an ultra lightweight. Hopefully, that includes your scope, hat and gloves ... smile
