What does everyone prefer to use for catching mice/Barn rats? Peanut butter? Bacon grease? Just curious, thank you for your time.

Peanut butter is my go to fig bars for rats that are wise to PB.

Pb here too

I use peanut butter on snap traps and dog food in Ketch All and Victor Tin Cat knockoff repeating traps.

Started adding a sprinkling of ground flax on my peanut butter after that initial wave of catches on just pb. Seemed like they wised up and that added grain got em hitting again.

I’ve always wondered if the cats don’t catch mice then bring the home and lose them in the landscaping.

Peanut butter is the standby, a little chocolate nuttela works good too, as is gluing a nut on the trigger, it all works but change it up once in a while..

I don't like using the mouse/rat bait in and around the house, but use it in the sheds....poof, gone, like a magic trick...lol

I had good luck with Tom Cat poison when getting rid of some wood rats in my barn this winter

I would order a package of these or find a package of these.And if I had to, I'd pay fifty dollars...

Back on the farm we used the stuff the elevator sold and it worked.
Don't know what it was made of but smelled like corn/peanut butter.

My first job when i was 14 or so was carry out/stockboy in a small grocery store. We had a small building out back that we would throw all our bad lettuce, veggies and fruit in and a guy would come like once a week or so and get it cleaned out. As you can imagine the rats started setting up camp. Soon enough they were in the store causing problems.
The owner said he would pay me 1$ for every rat i caught. Neither of us expected the number that would pile up, i made more than i did working, .lol. My best setup was a rat trap with a small piece of sponge or cloth dipped in pb and then sprinkle cinnamon on the trap. It kept me busy.

Plain old butter or bacon grease never fails.

usually peanut butter with sunflower seeds mixed in

I bought small pales of block bait, cut a couple 1" holes at the bottom edge, and set them in the four corners of the barn and all my mice went away.
