So CJ has been shouldering the 20ga O/U every time I open the safe and kept saying he wanted to go squirrel hunting. Now mind you, he’s never shot a shotgun, but this evening was the perfect time to break the ice.
We didn’t have any hunts this weekend so we decided to go.
His first shot was a kneeling shot and it knocked him flat on his backside, lol! But, he managed to kill the squirrel!!



After that it was ON!! His next 5 shots were standing and he was smoking them! My older son Zac went with us and he went one way in the drain and we went the other way. CJ ended up with 6 and Zac got 4!!



CJ has had a heck of a 25/26 hunting season! He ended up with 6 does and a buck shooting all but one doe with the .308. Shot his first shotgun. Went with me one morning on one of the quail hunts to help out and video for us. He’s already talking about dove season next year now that he can shoot a shotgun, lol!! Been some serious memories made this year!

Speaking of gravy and biscuits,, I am making ckn and biscuits this morning early for the wife and I for breakfast and dinner today. The neighbor and also our bottling gal works at a local restaurant chain, she brought home some day old bisuits that they can't sell to their customers. They taste great to me.

I will work on them until my ckn gravy stock runs dry.

Not near as good as CJ's squirrel gravy and biscuits, so I had the next best thing to that.

Chukar gravy with mushrooms, carrots and celery. Added some mushrooms from my logs and some mushroom soup stock for added gravy volume








Yep, me and the Mrs. will eat good for a couple days.
