There’s none left around here that I’m aware of. I can't think of any left either.

Very few left around. At one time probably six within twenty miles of me. All gone now.

The Black Otter is great. Try to get there every time I visit my daughter. Their prime rib looks fantastic.

A supper club is a slightly more posh restaurant where you have to be a member, or the guest of a member, to eat there. They charge a membership fee. They are like a less restrictive country club, without all the amenities and activities. There were 2 near my college. My girlfriend and I tried to eat at one once and were refused. If I just paid the $240.00 membership fee, I could have joined and ate there that night. It sounded stupid to me then and still sounds stupid to me now. It's good for the restaurant, but not the customer, unless they are stupid enough to feel an ego boost from going to an "exclusive" restaurant that keeps people out, who don't want to pay a moderate fee for basically nothing. I later ate there with a friend and their parents. Their parents had bought a lifetime membership years before and moved out of the area. They said the decorations hadn't been changed in over 20 years. The inside looked 30 years out of date. There was bad cigarette smoke staining on all the fabric. Most of the customers inside were in their late sixties or older. The food was okay, but not great. The service was like a normal restaurant. It closed permanently within a couple of years of me eating there. Keith

Keith Ah, no. No membership required here. The Old Fashions are tasty too

How is it a "club" if everyone can just go?
The supper clubs near my college had no membership requirements besides paying a fee.
Back in 1995, when one of my best friends then and now was getting married, he and I went on a bachelor's trip through Kentucky. We went to Lake Cumberland, Mammoth Cave, Barren Lake State Resort and Big Bone Lick State Park. We decided to go to the nudie bars one night. The second one made us pay $10.00 each to become members. Then they made us buy beer in another building and leave it. Then they served us the beer in club. It was to get around the county's liquor regulations.
The first nudie bar we went to had a big sign on the door that read "Absolutely No Coloreds!!!". Even though both of us were unmistakably white, my friend said he didn't want to go in. We both liked fighting, but he said he didn't wanted to be bruised up for the wedding pictures, because Amy would kill him, or miss the wedding from being in jail.

I like a good supper club unfortunately had 2 burn down in Rock county this winter there are getting to be fewer but there are still some around. I don't get out to them often but do take one in from time to time. here is a list for WI https://wisconsinsupperclubs.com/club-list/there are a few bars that give enough of the supper club feel that I think they should be included Luck's in Bagley WI is one that comes to mind.

GCP I live in PDC and 2 of the supper clubs listed are on the list. The Black Angus which I'm not a fan of as it's more for uppity folks and is very expensive. The snooty folks tend to go there. The Barn is more my speed, environment and price, my wife and I like it there. We don't go often but once or twice a year. It's ironic you mentioned Bagley. I lived there for 12 years before I moved to PDC. It was called Luck of the Irish until about 4 - 5 years or so ago. It was owned by Tom and Lori Irish. It's now Lucky's and I work with the Dad of one of the owners. We both work 2nd shift and are the only 2 guys doing the job we do so we're working together everyday. Bagley's a resort town busy in the summer and pretty dead in the winter. The Cottonwood is also listed but I haven't been there in probably 30 years even though it's only 30 miles from me. My parents used to go there when I was a kid. They had awesome sirloin tips which were lightly breaded and friend pieces of sirloin steak. They were good. I'll throw a nearby Iowa place in as well that classifies as a supper club IMO. The Old Rossville Store in Rossville IA. It's about 15 miles from PDC and they have really good Prime Rib at a reasonable price. I'll add another IA one. The LIghthouse in Clayton IA, We went there on New Years Eve and had a very good meal. For the 2 of us the bill was $70.00. That's a steal on NYE. The other thing that to me qualifies as a supper club is the salad bar that all the above offer. For me a good salad bar is going to be found in any supper club worthwhile.
