Corky, if you are looking for a new nephew i'm your guy.

I'd love to spend time with my brother. But I refuse to be lectured to about morality, which he will do, has done, every single time I try to reach out to him.

I don't want to talk politics with him, but he just can't resist.

and I've done that.... funny, I've never criticized him all these years, though there was enough to get into, never spoke politics either, though , just stayed neutral.
never mentioned he's crazy as a outhouse rat though theres enough evidence of that too, lol...

I guess it boils down to he has no tolerance for any opinion except his...and I felt blind sided by the insults more than the crazy...I'm pretty easy to get along with, there was no need to go off the rails for his conspiracy ideas.....
Oh well, .... frown

Same here. I don’t have any left leaning relatives anymore. The couple friends I have pass right into my shop through my door with the trump sign on it and we still enjoy each others company without mention of politics or religion.

However if they were to constantly bring it up and berate me for my choices, they wouldn’t be invited back.

That's a shame K. Some people don't realize how much they personally contribute to the divide.

One would assume you're pointing this out to me because I'm deemed intolerant?

I’m the youngest of three brothers. Both are libs. Don’t know why, dad was right as they come. We don’t talk any politics. Never have had a disagreement because we’ve never gone there. I’m happy to chastise other libs but not my family.

Why would folks deliberately try to pick a fight ? Do they believe as a result they think they will convince you that they are right ? Does this make them feel superior ?Are they trying to break off the friendship ? I think this type of behavior is not looked upon favorably by Jesus ,no matter which side does it .

IMHO We have become very complacent in our lives.
We live in the best country in the world!
Everyone either wants us dead , or wants to live here.
Lets be honest, how many here know who is the mayor of their town?
How about the trustees of your township?
Who are the board members?
We've become satisfied with our lives and forget about what's going on with our government.
Weather local or federal!
See it all the time, I don't vote because it doesn't make a difference. ?????????????
I don't want to talk about religion or politics .
People have to start paying attention to world events, and what's happening in all levels of government!
I don't care which way you lean, you need to pay attention to every little government backed issue!
I don't think the founders of our country were as complacent as we are today!
They had to fight just to live, so anything that made it harder to live was very important to them.
Just food for thought!

We have met the enemy and the enemy is us!
