Yep, we got some nice coons here, the odd jumbo but probably not like the population further south. There’s coons covering the southern half of the Provence. We’re on the edge of boreal forest and near the Canadian Shield, but they still wander around. Deep in the bush they’re usually near beaver lodges/dams…….like everything else….lol

Looks like this is the same wolf in the pic from a month ago. Crazy nice fur.

I usually start buy skinning the legs, chop the feet above the paw, and pull the tail. Then lay it on the table to skin out the face up to the ears. This time I taped a bag over its head after skinning it, before I rehung it to peel the skin with the hoist down to the armpits which is where I run out of ceiling height. Instead of muscling it from there, I rigged up the fur to let the carcass pull it. Took a bit to remember I was now skinning backwards, but it worked pretty good! Came out pretty clean.
It’s still frozen in this pic, but here’s how I start.

Here it is flipped carcass pulling itself off the hide. Had to crop the crap out of it or it wouldn’t load.

Just a 4800kw construction heater. 28x32 with a 10’ ceiling……12’ would’ve been ideal but I didn’t know I’d be skinning wolves 15 years ago….lol.
I keep it at about 59F with a cold weather dehumidifier keeping it around 50% humidity depending on snowy vehicles.
I’ve kinda got the conditions figured out. If I board one in the evening and won’t have time to flip it in the morning, I turn the dehumidifier off and I can do it after work. Buys me some time.
I keep the construction heater on the concrete floor where it can shoot sparks if it wants, then I keep an eye every now and then at the plug in with a laser heat gun. Them heater are real bad for starting fires. One of these days I’ll hardwire a good one in past a thermostat.

That's an option. I could use the quad winch. Only thing is I'd have to roll it a dew times.
A 12' ceiling when I built the shop would've been friggin sweet!

I tried this and did not like the setup for me, height was wrong to try and rotate while skinning, just felt awkward, everything i tried. Saying that some guys have it and love it.

Good video, looks like you're having a good time and that's what it's about. Definitely not a rehearsed or edited video. Recorded as it happens is far more entertaining and with real reactions that we can relate to. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks! There’s enough serious vids out there on how particular trappers do things and training and some are just bad advise. I figured we’ll do something different. At first I gave Freezer crap for swearing, but it didn’t take long to just say screw it. It doesn’t break my heart if YouTube bans me….lol, just means less work. As usual, the best and weirdest stuff happens when there’s no cam. I lucked out getting those beaver shooting out of the bank den under the clear ice 2 days in a row though! The 3rd day it went straight into a 330, and the cam wasn’t out…..lol
Heading to the shack tonight so it’ll be some cold vids in the morning. -40 is -40 F or C is the same at that temp…..lol
