Not thinking about what could go wrong. You don't need to wear anything more than shorts and a T to take your garage kept car to Walmart until some idiot t-bones you at the intersection and you are standing out in 20F weather talking to a cop freezing your boys off. See it all the time.

Yeah. Won't cut it around here in da wintertime. You introduce your truck to a telephone pole or an oak, you gonna need something more than your swim trunks while you wait, might be a good 30 minutes til some bird drives by to help ya out.

Adults can do what they want. Makes me mad how many parents let their kids go to school in hardly anything. Im not talking their 17 yoa daughters. Im saying their 7 yoa kids wearing shorts and a sweatshirt when its 20 out.

Years ago , I attended a friend's wedding in a 3pc suit. Was taking a ride just after the ceremony with a friend and her car broke down. Had to take a hike for a couple miles to get to a phone/help. Froze my butt off.

I learned. I always carry/have warm clothing after that just in case.

Wife's step grandfather always wears shorts but has on a jacket or hooded sweet shirt he's retired so not a young dumb kid.

My daughter is 23 and I made sure she had a food and a good sleeping bag packed in her jeep this morning befor she left for work. Its amazing how often I have to tell my boys to go back and get jackets mostly on waer afternoons in the 50s but teams gong ro drop later in the day. They only think about now not in 6 hours.

Saw some bone head yesterday out wearing a t-shirt, shorts and flipflops. He run from his car to the store and back.

use to have this friend who would show up to hunt with hounds for the day in just a tee and shorts di dnt matter how cold it was out and while we decided where we where going to take the hounds first he would put his winter hunting gear on i finally said one day why not just get dressed at home instead of a snow bank on the side of the road and he replied that he had been driving truck his whole life in just a tee and shorts that he felt uncomfortable driving with anything else on i still replied we are not even 5 minutes from your front door he just laughed

Seems to show how grossly comfortable some have gotten in the modern world, thinking that nothing will ever go wrong and thinking that they’ll never need to handle an adverse situation of any kind. If someone wears shorts, T-shirt, and flip flops in freezing weather, they’ve rendered themselves completely useless to themselves and anyone depending on them.

My question is.. what about the people wearing black hooded sweatshirts in the middle of the summer when it’s 400 degrees

That is a good question. And I sometimes see someone wearing a stocking cap in the summer...

My daughter taught in a private school in Texas,,, these kids could afford anything, yet they came to school during cold snaps in shorts and sandals....and complained they were freezing...
She'd tell them maybe wear some long pants and socks with a sweatshirt....they looked at her like she had 2 heads....lol

Always always always, have an emergency kit with you. Up north where the temp gets below freezing it can be a simple as a pack with warm winter clothes. you mite want to keep a jump pack and tools also. But with cellphones and such most likely you will just get a little cold until help comes.

When I was younger we kept a Coffee can with a candle and snacks in the trunk. along with jumper cables and a heavy sleeping bag.

They canceled school yesterday because of zero degree weather. The reason being frostbite Many kids wear shorts and tee shirts because it is cool to do so. They also want to appear as being tough and not a sissy.

On a similar note, why do people wear their pajamas all day; mostly just trailer trash though.
