Has anybody ever made a pair for themselves, or have some. I have been thinking about making a pair.

Yep, have made a pair. Takes some big hides if you don't want to piece the hides on the legs. And some good needles.

They wear like iron. Get wet easy. They are hot in the heat. And cold in the cold.

Back in my Rendezvous days I wore a breechcloth and leggings when it was warm or a pair of buckskin breeches when on a Winter camp. I preferred the leggings and breechcloth.

I still have both outfits just in case I ever turn back into a Borne-Again Heathen again. The Great Black Otter ain't dead yet.

Breechcloth and leggings is hard to beat for sure. Super comfy. Super convenient. Easy to make too.

My wife made fine traditional leggings using 2 small deer hides tied with buckskin thong about 6 times down the outside of the leg. Of course I had to add a big chevron disc, a copper cone, and a scalp lock dangle to each of the buckskin ties.

Also have to admit she would line my trade wool breechcloth with cotton cloth...for a little comfort!!!
