Just got this in my change. Not too uncommon to find a wheat, but haven't seen one of these for a long time. [Linked Image]

I would keep that if I were you. Over 100 years old. Pretty neat find.

Nice find and in good condition, you don't find those in the wild too often.
I found a 1943P war nickel (30% silver) in change a few days ago, another coin not common in change. I think the last one I got in change i was in 6th grade, 46 years ago.

That’s worth more in copper than the face value.

I wondered about that several times. But didn't feel it was right to ask.

Not to nitpick but 35 percent silver.

Cool coin sam. I buy every one I can get for 2 bucks or less. I don't look to hard though

I used to have a pile of buffalo nickles that were maybe worth 6 cents each, I'd throw them into my spending change every once and a while just to make someone elses day just a little more interesting.

You reminded me of a joke my grandfather used to tell. He always carried a buffalo nickel, and would show it to us and ask us what it was worth. His answer was that it was only worth 4 cents, because if you flipped the coin around you would see that the indians nose is stuck the buffalos butt. Goofy joke, but I still get a laugh out of it.

I've seen them in collections that my father in law had 50 years ago , but never found one in change!
Very nice find, and it's in good to very good condition.

Somewhere, I have one from 1907 that I picked out of a cash register, that is in better shape as I recall.. I used to find some neat coins that way at work. I've got some silver, buffalo nickels, wheat pennies, and some foreign coins, even found a gold Russian coin that I sold for over $200. I'm sure if I had any real knowledge on coins that I would have found more interesting stuff.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I have a old tri-fold, cardboard penny book somewhere. Had a cut out circle to press a penny into for every year. I know we had some Indian Heads in it.

I found a 1873 one of those somewhere (didn't dig it out of the dirt) but it was in poorer condition than that one. I think I sold it for $3.50 on ebay and gave good photos of the front and back (scanned the penny).

The guy bought it for his dad and his dad was po'd at the condition and was going to ask for a refund but then relented because I did say in the description that it was probably fair condition at best.

I suspect that old man is dead but I'm still here so how that penny scored in the end doesn't matter to him much anymore...

P.S. Very cool find. I hope you find another!!
