I know coyotes are death on feral cats, and we all know how good house cat is as bait for them

My wife is having a problem with something getting after her cats. A couple weeks ago she found a small cat in the end of a hollow log, its hind leg was damaged. The cat survived. Today her biggest cat was found dead, its hind leg was damaged and its face was chewed on. This cat was found inside the barn. I am thinking it might be a Fisher, what do you folks think? Why do you suspect fisher? ... as opposed to fox, bobcat, even possum, etc... ?

To answer ADC's question. I lived here for over 30 years and never saw or heard of anyone else seeing a bobcat, my wife feeds these cats and over the years we have noticed that coon and opossums sometimes help the cats eat their food. There are fox and even coyotes in the neighborhood and they are a possible suspect. We had two cats that something caught and chewed on the hind leg, one cat survived and is living with a new owner, the other cat was found dead inside the barn on the upper floor. Its face was eaten. I do not think a fox or a coyote would come in the barn and climb the stairs to the second story. Fishers have been seen in the area. Cage traps have been set and a camera is going to be set up today. I suppose it could be a coon, but a coon has made its home in the barn for 5 or 6 years and we never had cats missing until recently.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Back when we lived outside of town, we had a large barn/equipment shed. There was a large boar raccoon that lived in there, and he immediately killed any cat that thought they might take up residence in there.
There was also a great horned owl that spent part of every winter in there and we would often find evidence after fresh snowfall that it had killed a cat.
We don't have fishers in southern Ontario where I am, but I have seen lots and lots of facebook posts related to the idea that fishers are fond of killing and eating domestic cats. I even remember seeing a comment thread where some unhinged cat lady was trying to convince all the other unhinged cat ladies that the DNR had purposefully introduced fishers to the area in order to thin out feral cat populations LOL. I don't remember what state/area but I do remember that the post had several thousand comments on it.
Just happy to be here.
