You have to wonder why a guy that's in his 70's doesn't retire, especially when he's not wanted.
There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

I want to see rates dropped to negative, housing prices soar and inflation to get out of hand again while the govt increases spending. We need to get rid of Powell asap...

Then the Fed can print money and buy all those U.S. treasuries that pay negative rates. P.S. and all those Mortgage backed Securities too.

I may be odd man out here, but Im not sure I want a fed chair that is simply going to be a puppet for the president. Doesnt matter republican or democrat, there needs to be independence to make the right decisions, even when those decisions might not be popular. I don't know anything about Warsh, I just hope he does whats right for the country and not worry about making decisions that others think he should make. Let the flaming begin..... He’s going to do his best to say the right things and try to act independent……but you KNOW as does everyone on this planet that discussions have happened and Mr. Warsh knows his place for the next few years. Whoever was nominated was likely the most amicable to this. Happy trapping! ScottW Ps, I’m not an economist or economic expert!

No, that was different. And as to why would he keep working……I’ve seen many on here say they’ll keep working until they die as it keeps them young and engaged. I can see both sides of it as some people do NOT know when to quit and never get to enjoy “retirement” while some do and find a good balance. I just hope to make it long enough to be mulling those type of choices! Powell seems very cognitively functional comparatively to many his age so I can see why he is still working. Granted, I’m sure he might be happy to sail off into the sunset and be done with being belittled for doing his job properly. Happy trapping! ScottW

Frankly I hope Tillis blocks any nominee for the foreseeable future. This whole process has been tacky with the four potential candidates sucking up in hopes of being nominated.

Lots of people think Powell did a poor job and I agree. He raised rates too late and lowered too early.
