It's still snowing here. Been snowing all day. 17 degrees 12 mph wind feels like 4 degrees. Gonna hit 42 on Tuesday then back to cold for a few days.

Yeah...I'll get "depressed" about June or July when ya'll Yanks are complaining about 95° with 90% humidity for a few days.

Down here that's just a nice summer day.

You are correct. In the early going you also have to strip the old hardware off the broken poles to reuse until supplies arrive. Adds more outage time. Transformers also as some will be damaged. Please remember ice is a insulator. Crews probably have substations shut off by now. And when the ice goes off it can take lines down again.

The big difference is everything doesn't come too to a screeching halt when it get 100 here.

Mississippi looks like a nuclear bomb went off! Power out for a month while they try to get tree's cut out of the way, lines back up, etc, etc. I have no clue how those folks are getting by. Shortage's of everything as well. And now it's back down to deep freeze temp's once again. Will warm up later this week but going to start raining then making clean up efforts even more difficult than they already are.

I will never forget several of those winters in the early 80's. I killed an 8 point and got him gutted, it was 9-10 degrees that morning and by the time we got him to the house, about a 40 minute drive, he wasnt frozen stiff. but he was well on the way. hung him up in my great Uncles barn. it was about 21 days of temps in the teens and single digits. I didnt ever think that rascal would thaw so he could be processed.
