and the one you wish you did not miss....

My favorite is a tie (out of a lot of choices) between Hank Williams Jr. and believe it of not Ringo Star. Hank is Hank and Ringo's band killed a ton of classics. I have seen everything from Guns N Roses to Jewel. AC/DC rocked as well!

Missed a chance twice to see Sound Garden. The second missed chance was the night Chris Cornell killed himself after the show in Detroit. One of my favorite sounding voices.

My favorite was Jerry Lee
The one I wish I hadn't missed was Elvis. One of, if not the last performances was local. I wasn't interested at the time and to be honest, it probably wasn't his best but...he died a couple of days later.

My favorite live performance? I actually have two.
I paid a two dollar cover at a dive bar in North Lincoln in the 80s when I was in college and I saw Head East.
For a beer and two dollars got to hear them up close and personal.
Other was about same time frame only it was at the Chestnut Cabaret in Philadelphia when I was in college there and for $5 cover I saw the guess who and also same night later show was meatloaf.
Up close and personal there too.
Jim

First big show I ever went to was Robert Plant solo. Jimmy Paige came out and did 3 songs with him. Always considered myself fortunate to see half of Led Zeppelin.

Had tix to see GNR on their Appetite tour, but they cancelled unexpectedly. Never have had a chance to see them again.

Seen just about all of the Metal, Hard Rock and Country artist over the last 35 years. The band that I really enjoy anymore is BlackBerry Smoke. Every show has been consistently great.

I wish I could have seen Johnny Cash.

I think my favorite was Toby Keith in Iraq.

What’s always stuck out in my head though…

In the mid 2000s I guess it was, I was a Brad Paisley fan and was NOT a Kenny Chesney fan. I saw Bead in concert and thought it was terrible. I was invited to see Kenny in concert, went, and it was amazing. He was just a better performer in my opinion.

I saw Black Sabbath in '76. Front row center, Ozzie put on a heck of a good show. The warm up band had a really nice looking black chick wearing a see through top. She was smiling and grinning at a buddy of ours. Made him melt in his seat. She knew she was getting to him and just played it up, that was great . Fortunate to have seen many good shows, Springsteen at Red Rocks out of Denver in the late 70's was the best setting and it was before springsteen got all lefty political mouth

Got to see Montgomery Gentry during their first tour. Little basement country bar in Milwaukee. Great show.

Deanna Carter was great live also.

Quiet Riot put on a great performance at the WI state fair in the 2000s.

I saw matchbox 20 play a bar in Columbus like a month before they were famous. That was neat.

I worked with a guy that when he was in college he and his buddies went to see an unknown band play at a local highschool, they hadn't even pulled out the bleachers... it was Pink Floyd.

Chris Stapleton playing at Kentucky rising with Patti Loveless was pretty cool... the next week or so he won male vocalist of the year and they sang that duet at the grammys together.

I like almost all live music. Seen it all from DAC to WuTang to Gordon Lightfoot to Waylon to Zombie.

Been to quite a few and have rarely walked away thinking it was a bad show.

O.A.R puts on a heck of a show. Great music.

Hank Jr was good in the 90s, saw him last year and he's kinda mailing it in now and gotten all politcal. Same as Nuge.

Ozzy was great live.

Strait is pretty had to beat.

Was surprised by NGDB. Saw them a few months ago and they jammed. Even being old as dirt. wink

Missed - Had a chance to see the Dead and GnR. Bummed I missed those. Dylan is playing nearby in a few months. I passed on that. Big fan, but I have other plans that night and seeing some of them when they are at the end has changed how I see some of them.

REO Speedwagon puts on a great (at least 40 years ago anyhow) live show.

.38Special many years ago. Pat Benatar is a close second. It's hard to believe that voice comes out of that little lady.

Hank Jr. for one song. Heard him sing Tuesday's Gone with the wind. Best live vocal I've ever heard.
Jimmy Buffett was always a lot of fun. Largest party on earth and he just happened to be performing at it. Never seen a fight at a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Bob Seger was great 3-4 times I seen him.
Had a chance to see Johnny Cash one year on Spring break in Florida and didn't go. Never got over that one.

Seen Mel Tillis, Conway and Loretta, back 70s hard to say which liked better? Long list of people didn't see. Probably Charlie Pride and George Strait be top should have seen list.

Wow. The last concert I paid to see was The Temptations and The Four Tops. It's been a while.
I'm old.
