Good afternoon fellas! I have a question for y'all. I know there are probably 1 million different answers, but I just want to hear from y'all since you have more experience than I do at trapping.

What is your opinion on using male coyote versus female coyote urine at sets? It seems that most companies just sell coyote urine and you don't know if it's coming from a male or female or somehow a mixture of both. Do you think it matters? Do you think there are times when 100% male urine or 100% female urine would be good to use instead of something unknown or a mixture that you would normally get online from some of these trapping websites? I found one company online, Carolina Coyote Solutions, that actually sells male and female coyote urine. Don't know if it is a gimmick or not. Just wanted y'all's opinion before spending money I don't need to spend.

Thanks for your time and tight chains.

Dave

We have and I have been using SMC Single male coyote urine for many years. It has its place for ADC and those special circumstances that it can give you the interest that makes the difference.

Herd urine is good for the most part if it is good urine.

Thank you for the response! I greatly appreciate it. Still trying to learn the ropes over here. I found your website just now and I have a quick question for you sir. What is Coyote Extendz Crystagel? Is that something to use in place of coyote urine or in addition to?

The Extendz urines have been developed into a syrup and the Crystalgel form, from their fluid state. These urines will reduce evaporation and extend the urine odor presence at your set. Very good for very dry and wet conditions.

Quality urine is much more important than single male or female in my opinion. 95% of the time. If I do want to use and individual urine of one animal and sex, I usually just collect from one of my dogs. Although I have also collected individual urine of wild coyotes and wolves and used with good results. How do I do that? Same way I collect my dogs, I find where they pee in the snow and scoop up the yellow snow into a ziploc bag. On wolves doing this from and individual in one pack and putting it in another packs territory can be very effective and for either coyote or wolf, taking some nice yellow snow out of a catch circle and using it can be very effective for picking up their mate or packmates that come around looking for the missing critter.

I've used urine from one of my dogs that is in heat with very good results, especially this time of year. They claim you can't store those pheromones but if you happen to have a female dog in heat at the right time, using it fresh is very effective.

While I haven't used Bob's SMC or Extendz urines, I can highly recommend his regular coyote urine, it is all I have used except for fresh that I've collected myself the last few years.
