The wife and I headed there for a week of vacation. She wants to see the historic architecture, maybe a ghost tour. And enjoy some good local food.

Any recommendations from those who live or have visited there on places to go see or eat at? Or places to avoid?

We definitely don't need to do all the normal tourist stuff.

Patriots Point maritime and naval museum. The USS Yorktown and the USS Laffey are well worth seeing. If your there for a week you have plenty of time to fit that in as it'll take a few hours or more. Tickets are $28 a piece which IMO is cheap for all that you get to see.

We did a horse drawn carriage tour but honestly it was a little difficult to see some of the sites because you're in traffic and can't stop at places to see. You can also wind up with a bus or truck beside you when you try to get a look or picture. Maybe you'll have better luck though. We only had 2 and a half days there last Memorial Day weekend.

Wife and I enjoyed the walkway along the coast. We drove to the eastern most point and surprisingly found plenty of street parking right along it.
Lots of old homes along that stretch too.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

My brother went to the most charming and cozy restaurant recently, it’s called Fratello’s.

Have some extended relations down there my Dad lived out his life there. SO much to see and do historical and food wise. Look for a crab shack on a waterway great food and you can watch dolphins swim by as you’re eating. Good BBQ joints also one had an amateur night that locals came to sing and play music at, that was interesting to see.

Just everywhere you go there’s something to check out you won’t see a fraction of on just one visit.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

Our VVA took a bus trip and we spent a couple days in Charleston. We visited the Marine base, the Citadel, Fort Sumpter and the large market area down town along with the carriage tours. Lots of really old history in Charlston, even pre Revolutionary War history.
