A question for someone who has laying ducks, how do you get them to lay in the nest? I am a first time duck owner, chickens for 60 years, and the duck is laying on the open floor not in the box I placed for it. She is in with my hens and she lays under their roost so they are covered with droppings. Any suggestions?

Is your nest box covered? It sounds like maybe she wants to be under something.

In my experience, its next to impossible to get penned ducks to lay where you want them to. They're not very smart, but they sure do seem to have a mind of their own.

It is covered and I have added a golf ball like I do with pullets, so far she is doing what she wants.
