The fence was built in the late 70s. A couple years ago the landowner decided to clearcut the timber inside the pen and the houndsman that leased and managed the pen decided to end it. The loggers destroyed most of the fence and the coyotes inside gained their freedom. Most longterm resident coyotes (that had successfully evaded being torn apart by Walker hounds) had bad mange. Any new coyotes purchased for the pen soon became mangy too. This is where the mange originated from & refreshed this area over the years as escape was common by diggers. Ive caught 5 or 6 coyotes over the years that had been caught before.
