Thos natural posts are awesome, but it can be bloody tough to set without too much disturbance. Beauty looking 100lb wolf, patients pays off but I guess you’re on a tighter time frame than me. Here, they might be back to mark in a few days, or over a month. I can start mid October to March 31 but usually start 1st week of December and will be pulling in the next 2 weeks. Fur is going to start tanking.
I’m going to try pretty much the same set up you did. I crunch and roll up wax paper and put it in my pocket, but this time I’m going to try the produce bag method.

Not while the wolf was there. I've seen them check them out later. First wolf I ever caught I packed about a hundred yards to my pickup and flopped it on the ground. Spent plenty of time taking pictures, I had a friend with me and called another friend on the radio that was also out trying to trap a wolf, and he came up to look at it (first year we had a season, a real novelty) and we must have spent an hour there. That night a cougar came through and completely padded down the area we were parked, checking out where that wolf was laid on the ground. Luckily it didn't go over by the remake.
