Watched it tonight with nova,,,
Although she, like the rest of us who saw it were saddened by old yellers fate.
Remarkably she understood why. Most 8 year olds would not understand.
She did say though, after the movie was over,, that hopefully we wouldn’t have to shoot sissy, her beagle dog and best buddy. [Linked Image]

That was the first movie I can remember mom taking us to see. It was at the drive in. Had to be around mid 70s.

Great movie! We watched it back when i was a kid in the 90s and we promptly named the next family dog “Yeller” he was a yellow lab and retrieved ducks for over a decade. He loved to fight muskrats and shake water off on all of us.
