CBS isn’t the only one that is ecstatic, I’m sure you can add these to the list as they were against them too, South Dakota Cattleman’s Association, SD Soybean growers association, SDFU, SD Pork Producers council, and more just within SD. It’s wild to me that so many cheered for a tax on their own people just to stay in line with political partisanship and actually that so many don’t understand who pays the tariffs.

I don’t have the answer. I know this though, you have a trade imbalance with us for example. However, it you simply remove the discounted price heavy crude we ship you, you actually have a surplus. Then consider that you refine that aforementioned crude all export it at a profit. So, is that trade imbalance really so significant that it is worth a trade war with your nearest neighbor even if it hurts many of your locals industries and business? I’d think that unless you’re a partisan sheep the answer might be no. Also, it is easy to find that per capita Canadians spend 7 times as much In American goods than Americans spends on Canadian goods. Starting a trade war has definitely made many of your neighbours rethink their spending habits and search for alternative products than the ones that didn’t bother them before. Is the reshaping of these finances with individual consumers worth the cost of a trade war? Again, I’d think only the partisan sheep would say yes.

Rvsack I will gladly pay more to encourage Us manufacturing and investments. Beyond jobs, its important to not be reliant for critical items from others.

Same reason I pay more for better made in America products. Problem is that are getin hard to find.

So cheap imports are in again no incentive to produce products here people are addicted to cheap junk knowing it’s well packaged trash. LOL Winning!

I’m sure if you, like me, drove to any Walmart right now, you’d see that we’ve got a real consumership issue that isn’t going away for most people.

I feel like that if it was just “cheap imports” this conversation wouldn’t be happening. However, it has been necessary commodities and raw goods in massive amounts. All the agricultural groups in South Dakota wouldn’t have pushed back if it were regular consumer junk items from Dollar Tree but when it is things like fertilizer input costs, machinery costs, lost market access due to retaliation, etc , you’re looking at a different beast than just cheap junk.

90% of trade between Canada/USA is tarrif free

The remaining is under 232,,,,as far I know,,,,,, could be wrong
