.Lincoln ignored the Supreme Court I imagine the democrats all cried about it back then. Infact seems like they went nuts. Got ideas then and got stomped. Today's dems like Lincoln catering to their useful idiot demographics.

Really helpful for our USA small businesses that have to compete with the huge firms that could use tariffs to garner even more market share.

Gotta admit, I questioned that myself when that was first discussed .

Made me wonder that back when it was taken to the courts so I looked up the history of its use. Has been used regularly for trade.....

By executive order I should add

I wouldn't say "regularly" , my friend. Problem is a tariff is still a tax . I'm pretty sure the executive branch doesn't have the authority to impose a tax using the EPA.

Either way , US dairy imports into Canada are 4 times higher now than they were in 2016.

If it's false, then the Canadian tariffs on dairy wouldn't be there and wouldn't be needed.

Fact is, nobody in Canada is going to pay the 200-300% tariffs. That's why they "have never been applied in practice".

You're free to believe whatever you like.

I choose to believe facts, you obviously choose to believe what you like. lol

Fact is that the US has quadrupled dairy exports to Canada. They still have only reached 42% of total fill rates under the USMCA he negotiated, so why would anyone worry about paying 200%? There’s giant amounts that could be imported before worrying about them but the need for that is not there. Fact is, in some cases such as “milk” , you reach around 33 %of fill rate, yogurt 12%and so on . 58% of what had been negotiated by him, simply isn’t being met, so those big numbers that get thrown around could be a million percent, what does it matter when you don’t come close to what is allowed anyways? You’re likely right, no importer would want to pay that. But, those importers aren’t importing even close to enough to worry about it. You can actually look this up you know.

I won’t pretend the said tariffs are not there to protect family farms and the industry within, nor will I pretend that there are not flaws within that system. I will however say that there are a lot of unspent dollars that could happen in dairy trade before worrying about those scary numbers but for some reason that just isn’t happening. It could simply just be that guys like me would rather buy Canadian milk that doesn’t have growth hormones in it, to support a Canadian farmer/business , much like you’d rather buy an American made pair of boots.

And he's unquestionably the best president in our lifetime.

Only one that does what he says, does it for the benefit of US citizens (without a care to what other countries think), and he can't be bought.

Prove me wrong!

I would hardly call a man who fights, fights, fights for his own country a "Clown".

perhaps you should elect such a man to represent YOUR country on the world's stage.

Welcome back baco I see nothing has changed. I hope you are having a good season.

Here is my latest acquisition for now going on the pistol below until I get my 15 year olds rifle threaded. Come on down and experience some of activities you can't do at home.

I’m not sure if you’re uninformed or being disingenuous yourself but Canadian tariffs on American dairy don’t kick in until a high quota is reached. So high in fact that American has never reached that threshold. So in reality not a single dollar has been paid due to that tariff. I get that was a big talking point on the republican side to get people upset yet nobody had ever paid that. Don’t just believe everything you’re told.

Below is a link that talks about the dairy tariff claims the adminstration has made and what is actually taking place
https://www.factcheck.org/2025/04/trumps-misleading-claim-on-canadian-dairy-tariffs/

Also Canada has just a few thousand less cows than the state of Wisconsin. They have about 1 million cows that supply about 35-40 million people so it stands to reason they may need to import some dairy products
Much of Canada also has a milk price support or quota system that causes dairy products mostly in eastern Canada to be high. That helps make imports more attractive and still be below the 250-300% triggers that are used to create false information.
Also Two of the largest dairy companies in the world are Canadian and they have several production plants in the USA and other regions of the World. The USA has only 1 large dairy producer in the top 10 worldwide. We as Americans have been slow to build large food plants and food production companies and when we do we sell them to Brazil, China and Canada.

No right minded manufacturer was gonna begin making things here in the USA because of those tariffs. Trump imposed them, less than a year ago, and seemed to have consolidated power ( House, Senate, SCOTUS ). Seemingly holding all the cards, the tariffs still fell apart. Imagine is in three years, Democrats control power in DC…..anything Trump enacted would be gone like a fart in a windstorm.

Businesses can’t operate with that kind of uncertainty. You can’t govern by executive orders, everything is temporary till the next guy takes over.

That's what they said about the tariffs he put on China his first term...guess what?

Biden never touched them.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

They don't have any. If you watch Canadian supreme court, they wear funny costumes and it's even more of a clown show than ours.
