anybody running a syrup camp yet? Hows it going with the big temperature swings?

I'm at my winter place in northern NJ. I began tapping last Monday; the latest start I've ever had here. Daytime temps were just too darned low for decent sap production.

Over the last couple of days, flow has picked up pretty well.

Now, with a large snowstorm in the fc for Sunday night, I may be out of business for a while longer!

I'm shocked Pete. I get having a winter place and having it where you can make maple syrup is pure genius... but NJ??? Really NJ??

Started Wednesday, 70 taps and 60 gallons first nite. Not so much since. Froze last nite and almost 40 today might help. mikec

Pretty early for up here. We just got a big mess of snow earlier this week 30" so spring is a ways out. Maybe next week I'll try and break a trail into the cooking area.

Put first 140 taps out today. Will do about 120 tomorrow. We will also pre sort our rats that we will take to the buyer next week.

I think it’s way too early yet. I might tap in a week or two. 10 day forecast isn’t looking like sapping weather yet.
