Muskrat's is what I had as my EDC before I retired. Slim, light, and decent steel but not real strong blade to handle connection. Doesn't show in the pocket of dress pants.

I'm thinking of trying this one: https://www.crkt.com/knife/ceo-comp...oI3koypjctBr3mnNWQwdslI4euTaE0jiAkecogc6
Anyone have this knife? Or is anyone familiar with the difference between 1.4166 and s35vn? Is it worth the extra $35 for the better steel?

I usually have a Leatherman Skeletool CX on me. My favorite pocket knife is a Schrade Old Timer, my Dad’s knife…

I've carried a Gerber 500 for a few years now. It's an inexpensive knife that carries well, sharpens easily and holds an edge reasonably well. I'd recommend it.

Kershaw Blur 90% of the time
Case Trapper 10% of the time

Blur is a heck of a knife for the money.

Also - Just got a Benchmade auto a couple weeks ago but my history of losing stuff has me nervous to actually put it into everyday rotation

Pretty sweet knife though. Went with the CLA

I worked the tool and die traid 40 years. Manly carried Buck that used D-2 tool steel and when tested hardness 100% of blades where 58 RC. All the Chinese made knife's test softer between 54 to 57 RC. Dies are built to cut and sheer steel and D-2 was the go to til 15 years ago. Steel manufacturers' developed powder metallurgy steels (CPM) for superior edge retention and was harder to work with but superior. Two years ago splurged on my EDC and bought a Benchmade with CPM s30v. Not much harder steel but went from needing sharpened every 30 days to twice a year unless abused.

AI Overview
Do they use the proper steel? : r/benchmade
Benchmade primarily uses premium, high-performance steels, with a strong focus on powder metallurgy steels (CPM) for superior edge retention and corrosion resistance. Their most common, flagship steels include CPM-S30V, CPM-S90V, 154CM, and increasingly, CPM-MagnaCut. Other steels used across their lineup include CPM-M4, M390, 20CV, and D2 tool steel, catering to varied needs from everyday carry to heavy-duty, tactical use.

which one would I go buy if I lost the one I have

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/102360316?pid=471476

buck 110 slim

had this one since 2021 fathers day

had variations of the 110 slim or 110lt or buck lite since I was 12

I have a few in the drawer that have lost pocket clips or thumb studs or I had lost for a while over the years , current one is orange and seems a little better on the losing it front.

I also have some of the Calumus electricians knives and a Klien
most carried left to right
that little calumus is often carried with the belt knife
I like the Kershaw auto , but it was a gift , kinda spendy and I don't want to lose it.

Besides my pocket knife, I also carry a bic lighter (never smoked, ever) and these pliers. I don't leave the house without them. You can not imagine how many times they have saved a situation.

Guess as this turned into daily carry I will play.
Center is Buck 311 trapper. I have carry this model since my senior year of high-school. Not this knife its the second one. Lost first one in 1984 got this one to replace it.
Other 2 are both Gerber I can open with one hand and either hand.
Pliers is a craftsman that came out of my older brothers tool box. Not his daily carry just from his tools. I started carrying it after I lost my dad's Pliers. Which I wasn't allowed to use to often as kid. Lol
I have lost 3-4 over last 50 years. This pair is old craftsman from 70s
