I wonder if there will be enough coffee and middle fingers to make it through the day.

I spend some time in an 80 footer, and I don't like it. 185 would probably have me frozen with fear. I can only handle heights to a certain point.

I have run some 100 footers in my day and on a windy few days at that. I think I would stay with them or smaller. I think a parachute would be better then any fall protection at those heights. smile

What's the wind limit in something like that?

Hope the engineer knew what they were doing.

The most fun available on a job site:::::::::

Tell the new guy he gets experience today on the man lift. (Happy look on face)
Load willing participants into machine ( try not to snicker)
Instruct on safety and operation
Allow Ginny pig to become accustomed to the controls
Confirm that that operator feels comfortable
Lock out the basket controls and send him straight up…occasionally shaking the boom.

Lol, Vinke. If you did that to me you'd want to be a long ways off when someone finally let me down. I bet it's fun to watch though.

Been up in many 70 foot bucket trucks. I don't think I would want to go up that high now. I always felt more safe when climbing then in an aerial devices. I would think that area around the truck on the ground would have a large barricade around the perimeter of that piece of equipment. Not much safety compliance going on in that picture.

No way....unless the proverbial "pot of gold" was awaiting me.

I run a concrete pump. I was pumping a floor with system (3" hose) several stories up. The only way down after the pour was with a lift. So I climed in, and they threw in some of my system for me to take down. I was about 80' in the air. When I swung out all was fine but when I started to go down the system stopped. Yep I was over loaded. I would clear the system and restart. it would move an inch or so them stop again. I did that for about 10 minutes before we had someone on the ground get a spot cleared. Then I dropped pieces of hose to the ground until the load was lite enough to let me down.

Done a lot of work in them. I used to own a 47' AmeriQuip.

185' is a big one for sure.

It must have a very heavy, low balanced based. I've only used a lift once, to rehang visqueen so we could heat a Circuit City, to pour concrete, after welders caught it on fire. On the uneven ground, we were all over the place. The guy who was first supposed to help me refused, because he only had a few days left and thought he was going to get badly hurt or die. I thought he was kidding at first, but he was dead serious.

Heck yeah.

I've spent many days in 120' lifts.
Never was a fan of the controls on a JLG though.
