So we had a storm roll through last weekend and knocked power out for two days , that ment out incubator was our for that long and apparently these eggs can't be without heat for more then 12hr. Well wifey said something told her not to toss them . Said she cam home today and was really confused about why she was hearing peeping in the house and wellll guess the can go a little longer lol !

Joe hutto talks about this in his book illumination in the flat woods it's very interesting to say the least.

While they were developing, they probably started to create some of their own body heat which kept them warm for that 48 hour spell. Good on you guys for sticking with it and learning from it and sharing.

I'd suggest taking that egg turner out of the incubator a day or two prior to hatch day. No need to keep turning eggs past day 18, and makes it harder for them to hatch and walk around on it.

Hatching sure is fun - get the next batch in bud!

If thats a twisted leg it’s rather common mostly in broilers don’t remember seeing it in layers can’t tell from the photo. Don’t eggs hold off until the hen is ready to set them before the clutch starts to develop?

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!
