While they were developing, they probably started to create some of their own body heat which kept them warm for that 48 hour spell. Good on you guys for sticking with it and learning from it and sharing.
I'd suggest taking that egg turner out of the incubator a day or two prior to hatch day. No need to keep turning eggs past day 18, and makes it harder for them to hatch and walk around on it.
Hatching sure is fun - get the next batch in bud!

If thats a twisted leg it’s rather common mostly in broilers don’t remember seeing it in layers can’t tell from the photo. Don’t eggs hold off until the hen is ready to set them before the clutch starts to develop?

Don’t eggs hold off until the hen is ready to set them before the clutch starts to develop? It's called the bloom, it's a kind of seal, that keeps the eggs until they reach a certain temperature. That's why they can lay eggs for a couple weeks, set on them and they all hatch about the same time. If you water glass eggs, that's the reason it works.

Best to cull the one with the bad leg. Probably won't improve. Won't grow as well either from my experience. Yeaaahhhh getting her to kill any bigger then a bug is, yeah not gonna happen guess I'll have to in a few days when i get home

Now you just need your wife to sell and repeat, so that you can build a nice nest egg.
Keith Finally said she's gonna quit the job of hers after seeing what people who are doing this as a side gig make . Seriously woman works 7-5 everyday 5 days a week never takes off makes like $350 on a good week . Made that in an afternoon seelin eggs and some Transport cages i made . If i can get her not terrified of powder tools I'm pretty sure she could make decent money jus let building stuff out the car shed and selling them on marketplace

If you're in a decent location, near several larger cities, or if you're willing to deliver or ship, it's pretty easy to do low six figures in sales off of a small farm. That's sales, not profit, but you can live pretty comfortably.
One of the companies I helped get started is selling 16,000 plus quail eggs for hatching a week, for an average of $1.20 an egg and they can't meet demand. They'll be selling close to 20,000 eggs a week in couple of months. Only 1 friend of mine is doing most of the work. He has help only 1 day on the weekends.
That doesn't count a second location they set up in Canada selling their genetics under their name.
If you want any ideas, I'm happy to talk to you.
Keith
