What threw me on the pipe wrench was the fact that the piece attached to the main frame has spring like action. Each side has a thin flat strap of spring material. I have not seen that on any other pipe wrench that I have owned.

The press I knew was a kitchen item but didn't know it's purpose.

Lots of references online. Here is one about the company that manufactured them. The original patent was issued to A Walworth employee Daniel Stilson in 1869. The partial one shown missing the loose jaw and adjusting nut was a somewhat later version of the Stilson Pipe Wrench.
