If you would have asked me last week I would have said they would hold a wolf, they've held lions. Pretty incredible critters. #3 bridger dogless modified offset.
Edit- this was on my coyote line. Wolf season closed

I have a couple dozen Bridger 3s that I set for cats in locations I am concerned about lions. My hope is that if I catch a lion it will flex the base enough to pop the jaws just like that. Unless you are on the east side with the season still open, I would say that is the best possible scenario that could happen when catching a lion or a wolf past season. I would for sure be setting different traps or bubbling the jaws for next year since that would be heart breaking to have that happen 2 weeks ago. The cool thing is you did everything well enough to catch a wolf.

I guess that's why most wolf trappers use bigger gear than #3 coils.

Lot of length on those jaw tips....Would be easy to bend them up if you don't want to weld.

I’ve caught about 8 wolves in 1.5’s and 2’s over the years. Held every one of them. Sucks your trap broke!

That is why I DO NOT bubble the jaws on my cat traps! The big lions will usually self release!
