Born in So. California and been in Mexico several times. Last time in 1968 at Bay of Angles. $5.00 room and board and $5.00 boat and guide. Had friends in school decedents from there. There has always been a risk going there and that was long before the cartels. Had a close fishing friend die there heading to his secret fishing place in Baja.
Never was totally comfortable there but today no way.

about Mexico, if you have never worked with DEA and the intel groups on the cartels then you have a little to no information on what goes on down there. no idea why our Govt doesnt put this info out for public viewing.

the number of people killed by the cartels and their affiliates far exceeds the number that go missing in the US annually. Their operations expand far greater than the metro areas and in close proximity to the resorts.

there are uncountable numbers that have been kidnapped and killed in Mexico in which it never gets reported by the families or the local police and federal police refuse to report the infomation.
furthermore, they commonly stumble upon mass graves reminiscent of how the Nazis would cut deep ditches and pile the POWS in them as deep as possible before back filling them. Never seen that on the news up here. There is a reason why the State department issues these travel advisories.
I will close with this. Everything is fine and well until it isnt, and nobody will be coming to your rescue. just keep that in mind.

If you pay attention and source your news from actual news platforms you occasionally get some of that information. Enough to know that Mexico is a failed state and no where any sane person wants to visit.

What I can't figure out is why our state department isn't figuring out ways to stop travel to, remittances, and any US funds until they get their act together.
