Had a turkey in the freezer since Christmas. Decided to bone it out and can iit rather than eat it now or let it get freezer burnt. This is Gramma's old canner. Safety valve but no wobbler. Found out the safety valve works. Puut a new gauge on it a few years ago but not the safety. Heard what sounded like a busted air hose on a compressor. Took a second to realize what it was. I had got busy and forgot about it. Hope I never do that again.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Geez! I don't think I could shoot through that antique with my deer rifle. Made by the Christopher Columbus Company?

I have nothing clever to put here.

We blew one out a few years back. We can on a 2 burner camp stove outside so was not as loud like inside the house would be, and we were not outside when it popped . I Supect that sure made you jump inside the house.

Easy fix, you can replace the spigot , with a weight gauge .
All American, National, and Presto all take the same parts.
Remember to watch it closely, so it doesn't happen again.
IMHO using both gauges, helps to save fuel, and adds extra safety.
My AA 941, is set up with both gauges as are all my canners.
I use a propane turkey frier burner to can outside where it's cooler.
I use a 15 pound weight, and can turn down the flame enough to run at 11-13 pounds by the dial gauge.
It hisses and wobbles 5-7 times a minute.
When the time is up, it's surprising that it's only about a 1/4 turn to shut off the propane.
I always shut off the tank first, let the line burn out, then turn off the inline valve.
You can get parts at many hardware stores, or go to this site, they have everything you will need.

That looks like a 7 quart AA canner.
You and your great great grand children will get a lot of use out of it.
