190 years ago today was the start of the 13 day siege in San Antonio Texas. over 600 mexican soldiers under Santa Anna were killed by the 187 defenders led by Travis,Bowie and Crockett'
The only Alamo survivors were women and slaves, All of the defenders were killed on the last morning.
Santa Anna was defeated and captured by Sam Houston's army at San Jacinto in a battle that lasted less than an hour.

… have kin that fought under Houston at San Jacinto .. thanks for posting this

… this entire country is an Alamo now unfortunately

… and on a side note… I live in Sanjacinto county .. and the sheriff is named Sam Houston

…trapped a few stray dogs for him .. and his son is my main partner

… we sit around drinking beer talking about how disappointed our ancestors would be
frown

Insert profound nonsense here

“ hey Santa Anna, we’re killing your soldiers below,
So that men wherever go
Will remember the Alamo “
One of my favorite songs by Johnny cash.

A few years ago some folks really got themselves into a heap of trouble by saying that Davy Crockett surrendered.

Stand by your principles, Stand by your guns, and victory complete and permanent is sure at last.
