That isnt going to be cool with the wind that's coming. If its in the sandhills im wondering if that's going to cause problems for years with blowing and shifting sand to the point grass cant reestablish and hold the soil? Better hope for a wet summer.

It is the sandhills. Just 60 miles north of me. I work a lot in that area. Close to 70 mph gusts when that happened 2 nights ago. It spread fast and quick with those winds.

Are you guys going to get any of the moisture from this storm coming through or just the wind?

Very rough country that isnt accessible with firefighting equipment. Only from the air.

Is it prairie grassland that’s burning or is it bush?

I’m guessing mostly public land?

That should be great dozer and/or tractor plow country. The air show means nothing without boots on the ground to follow up.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Some public, but mostly private ranches.

The Nebraska Sandhills are a grassland. Grass covered sand dunes.

Till u get stuck in front of the head fire. That dry sand is treacherous. 50 mile an hour winds id be scared to get very close to it ahead of it In a tractor or dozer. That fire in prairie can move about as fast as the wind. Ive seen fire come over a hill rolling like an ocean wave.

That is why you go direct. I would have no problem putting gear there as long as they were going direct and taking the black along with them.

Honestly that sand scares the heck out me..... was helping down in some sandhills west of us. Got stuck ahead of the fire in a deuce and a half. Thought I was a goner. Lucky was in a narrow road cut down about ten feet into a hill. Strong winds Lucky and the fire rolled right over the top of us. Scariest thing I've seen.
