Pretty much everybody I know has a soft cover. We dont get what I would say is a lot of snow here but they hold snow just fine.

Sam once you get one you'll find you will have it rolled out all the time unless hauling a taller load. Keeps the snow out of the bed, keeps things out of sight.

Dealer is going to want north of 600 bucks for a soft one. They will charge you 150 plus or minus to install. I put mine on by myself in 30 minutes.

The soft, roll up cover is all you need. And they roll up completely out of the way when you don't need it.

Do those of you in the north country with a soft cover park your truck in a garage?

I already have a minivan. Sometimes the pickup fits the overall needs of the trip more than the van. I just want to be able to cover things up occasionally, and still use the pickup for it's normal purposes the vast majority of the time.

My son's truck has a hard tri fold, I hate it, and I don't know if he's ever opened it up all the way....

I put an old dump truck mesh "tarp" I found on my truck, folds all the way, mostly keeps stuff out of sight, and blocks the sun....I haul a lot of crabs and they would cook under a solid cover, but are mostly happy out of the sun and ventilated, lol

If I was to look for a solid cover I'd get the roll up soft ones....

I even mentioned that in the "irratation" thread. Wouldnt work for me I always have something sticking up in the bed. I travel light and whatever is important goes up in the cab. My dad had one on a 78 chevy and it was painful to use, they should be better nowadays.

Ive had mine on my Ram for a number of years. I park in a pole barn but when Im out snow has been no problem on the truxedo cover.

I went on a trip for two weeks and left my truck parked at the airport hotel lot. In winter. The snow had built up almost three feet on everything during that time. I had to dig my truck out and clear it enough to start . The cover held the weight just fine. No stretching or tearing at all.

There are metal supports that span across the top underneath that rest onto the truck bed . Those supports are study enough but still being built light in weight.
