Howdy fellas

If you were strictly targeting otters on crossovers slides etc. What size bodygrip do you prefer. I have never really caught many and all been in beaver sets.

Thanks for the information!

Depends on what fits the spot. I like my 280s but I tend to lean towards the 330s as they leave a bit more room.
That is just me and I am by no means a big number otter trapper.

Thanks Viking. These would definitely be belisle to use in AK for hole sets and other spots on those open leads they run.

If I were to set on dry land I would go with 220's. If they are in water no bigger than 280's like previously said.

Water runs or water entry/exits a 280. Land sets it depends on how wide the run is. A 220 in a narrow run will hammer them, more open throw in a 280. I try not to catch otters in 330's. It gets hot here and if you suitcase a otter it will sour and the hide will be ruin.

It must be real hot there for that to happen. Never had an issue here in 330's and we can have some sunny days in the 60's and 70's during trapping season. Most of the time they've got one jaw/side of the trap just behind their front shoulders and nothing in the other jaw. I've had catches like that where the otter didn't even move the guide sticks.

All of my otter trapping is blind setting creeks. Some creeks are 80-100 feet wide. I've got to neck that otter down to swim through my trap. A lot easier to do with a 330 than a 280. With a 330 you've got 100 square inches of trap for them to swim through. With a 280 you've only got 64 square inches.

280's work great for small, shallow creeks, or for crossovers where they are using an existing trail. To the OP, if legal I would use 280's. If not go with 220's.

Gotta live up to the nickname...
