I’ve had hearing loss all my life… had surgeries when I was a kid to try to improve it..
kept me from serving.. but GOD had other plans I guess.
I got a pair of hearing aids and I’m trying to get used to them,,, trying to adjust the volume takes some time,,,the audiologist said that it will take time for my brain to adjust to them… I’m hearing things really strong now , but it’s almost like people yelling.
I could hear the pastors shoes creaking yesterday as he was talking during service… then I heard a fly, buzzing against the truck window clear over on the passenger side of the truck.
It’s almost like super hero power to me,, lol.
I told peg that now I can hear if she’s mean mouthing me in another part of the house.

Wife got hearing aids over a year ago, had to turn them down because she felt people were still shouting at her, she had such loss that it was just like new all over again, now she has moved them back up to where it's more normal

She was asking for a different kind , told her nope with what those cost we could have supplied the whole family !!
Just get used to them like you are a reborn person !! Don't think that went over very well !!

Oticon. Is the name of them ,I got them from the ear doctor.

It’s hooked up through my phone too.
I can adjust the volume, take phone calls through them, listen to YouTube and other apps on my phone through them.
Peg likes the idea of me not having to turn the television up loudly.

Yup,,, exactly what I’m trying to figure out,,, a happy medium… so my brain can become adjusted to it. When you start hearing things that feel like they are full blast,,, it becomes very stressful…

I haven’t experienced cochlear implants. Just got regular hearing aids. It took a full 2-weeks before my brain figured it out. Otherwise, I felt my head was in a bucket. It’s hard to explain to someone who doesn’t have them. It’s been 4-years. I’m probably due for an adjustment.

Good luck with your breaking in period. It’s worth it in the end.

Good luck. Ove TV goes to a commercial they jack up the volume. The kids volume changes as well without warning as well. You louder then you thi find you think. The wife will tell you.

I need to get new hearing aids. I've had a set for roughly 7 years. The right side which is my best ear quit on Christmas day. The left side quit a couple weeks ago. When I got them I had 65% hearing loss, and it has only gotten worse. They were almost $7,000 then and I don't have that kind of mad money at the moment.

Hang in there with the break in period. All the new sounds can be very overwhelming. But if you can just be tough enough to put them in every morning and wear them all day every day your brain will adjust to them. And it's worth it. Until then the jingles of keys, crinkle of paper, click of light switch, deafening roar of urinating in the toilet and a million other sounds will tire you out for a week or two.

Each day is a gift. LIVE IT with gratitude.

I’ve had hearing aids for 4 years. Been life changing for me. A good audiologist should be able to dial them in to not feel weird. I have a phone app to adjust them in different situations/environments but I never use it. Automatic setting works just fine. Getting them cleaned every six months to a year is the key to making them last.
