I'm looking to buy one of these kits to start growing Morels in my woods. Anybody ever try them? If so, any you can recommend?

When you're 20 and drop something you pick it up. When you're 80 you decide you don't need it anymore.

Takes 2/3 years to see any production.

I'm guessing they aren't very effective or there would be a lot more morels for sale even on the "off years" weather wise. It'll be interesting to see what others who have used them have to say.

My friend Don Greider hung mesh bags of morels, he picked from all over, including other states, in his woods, in good spots. He ended up with different varieties that I've never seen anywhere else in Ohio and much better production. Even years where the local morels were nearly nonexistent, he had a good crop, because there was always at least a few different strains he introduced, that liked the conditions.

We just pick them and put them in a mesh onion bag then sort of shake the bag as we pick them. It releases some of the spoors from the mushrooms. Helps them grow back the following year.

I've been lead to understand that there have been some breakthroughs in growing morels in the last couple years. I don't know how true that is, but it'd be awfully nice if it was the case.

I would think, if you don't have them already then you probably never will, but I'm no expert on fungus.
