That beaver is worth more than any I sold at Glenn's Ferry....its a Picasso. Abstract art buyers would snap that up.

There was a lot of excellent fur handling on display. I was impressed on some of the otter, in particular. Also, some nutria that were absolutely clean. I had forgotten how black nute skins are. Lots of average skunks, and a few coon. Some of the coon might have been put up by the same trapper that did that tortilla-looking beaver. Some very nice coyotes, also. See what they bring. Should have a better idea how prices work out tomorrow. They clear the tables of all fur tonight, so anything that didn't sell today must be re-submitted tomorrow morning, along with all the fur that comes in from trappers that didn't get to the auction today. I must say, there is room for improvement, as to getting fur checked in and on the tables. It took me 2-1/2 hours to get 2 items on the floor. And having to do it all again tomorrow in the event of no sale seems, well, not efficient at all.
Just doing what I want now.

I wonder if yesterdays FHA news on beaver helped you out Mike. I had 104 really nice beaver at Glenn's Ferry (mostly coastal) and averaged $24.55 before commissions).
I saw that blanket hatters all sold for $43 yesterday @FHA.

Copy. I sold 20 beaver at an average of $33.75. Not the greatest I suppose but not terrible either. Who bought your beaver Mike? You did a lot better than I did in Idaho.

I saw that blanket hatters all sold for $43 yesterday @FHA. Yesterday's FHA news probably helped out everything except coyotes and coons. Red Fox doubled, in some sections like semi's, tripled or more, Otter up substantially, Mink through the roof, Beaver were better, Cats justified the country price and even did better, Ranch fox are up 50%. Things are looking much better. Mink I think will hold up for a good while, they are a staple of the industry and ranch mink numbers are way down, along with all the millions of ranch mink skins that spent years in freezers that are now gone. Now I'm rooting for coons and coyotes!

Buyers are so focused on cats they don't even look at most other fur.

Does it really matter for the hatter market? No. My buddy who lives south of me and buys several thousand beaver uses 16 nails no more.

Those kind of results will pay for a lot of gas spent roaming the two tracks. Good deal!
