I've seen the TV show's about it. It's a blood sport!

Every kid needs a Dog and a Curmudgeon.

Remember Bowe Bergdahl, the traitor.

Beware! Jill Pudlewski, Ron Oates and Keven Begesse are liars and thiefs!

The wife thought it was a good way for us to get inventory for one of our stores. So she bought 4 or 5 of them. They were online auctions.. its was kind of ok. There's one that was good but the rest were more-so trips to the dump as once you buy the unit it all has to go. Usually within 48hrs.
Definitely not like the TV show..
Glad we're done with that part of our lives.. (that I'm aware of).. lol

Ya can't miss fur if yur traps are out somewhere.
Or so I've been told.

Before all the medical bills, I was buying at online auctions a lot. I collect old axes, hatchets, adzes, cleavers, hammers, knives, Native American artifacts and other interesting old tools. Diane collects spinning wheels and looms. I often looked at the stuff in the online storage auctions, that would come up, when they came up in my searches. I never bid on one because they all came with many cubic yards of stuff I didn't want and often just trash.

Loading and disposing of all the extraneous crap would be tedious. Selling the stuff that had decent value, that I had no interest in would be profitable, but not enjoyable. I would feel bad if I just pitched it. Paying to dispose of all the trash would get expensive.

If you had the storage space, work ethic, excellent organizational skills, knowledge of what you bought and a nearby and online market, you could easily do well into 6 figures flipping stuff you bought from selected online auctions.

What is to stop the owners from taking the good stuff out before losing the locker, aside from death, was a fear of mine. I like to see what I'm bidding on. One I went to they actually drug the stuff out and it was still junky low end stuff.

Percentage wise most people do not put their good stuff in storage. Most of the stuff in units is not worth the rent for one month. People that have $ do not rent storage units.

For me I stay away from them. I have people asking me to buy units. But I have always declined. IMO mostly trash. Unwanted items!!!!! But I am sure every once in awhile a gem does appear.

True, but some stuff is better than the rest, I guess that is what the pickers are after. A lady friend put the contents of her house in a big locker and I told her to go through 2 totes as weekend and only keep the cream-throw the rest away. Well its been 5 years now at about 100+ a month so what value does anything in there have?
