Anyone ever plant a garden over your drain field?
In the summer you can always find a drain field in the dry grass because it’ll be greener.
I was wondering if that wouldn’t be beneficial to a garden by keeping it moist?

In theory it sounds good but your carrots may taste like poop.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Lateral lines can only be 18" deep max to the bottom here thatd a touch to close to the bottom of crops to save on watering or irrigation to me. Also my tractor is 2x heavier than a zero turn I was told not to drive anything heavier than a zero turn over the drain field. If you messed it up its expensive to fix.

I think if you can reasonably separate your grey water from the shower and send it out with a pump to irrigate your garden that would be the better option.

not an uncommon thing to do , you can often if you have a basement , just drop the trap and hook up another that goes out another line or even down into a 55gallon barrel you drop a cheap sump pump in , when it fills it pumps out to the garden.

change it back when garden season is over.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

When we bought our house, 30 years ago, the old owners were using the old well pit as a septic tank. We had a new system put in on other side of house. A few years ago I rigged it so gray water from washing machine, kitchen sink and dish washer go to old system, couldn't tap into shower. I can switch it back easy if needed. I occasionally pump the gray water into crop field, the corn and beans seem to like it. Usually only have to pump it on really wet years.
