I like to start them early and as soon as I can get them to garage till they go into the ground. I seem to have earlier crop having them further along. On a typical year I', picking a few around the forth of july. Next week melons, squash and pumpkins will get started in house.

my neighborhood is infested with an obscene number of coffee shops so I dumpster dive for pretty pots for transplants.

Big buck sitting there. Start have been between 3 and 6 buck everywhere I looked.

We started 50 peppers and 50 tomatoes a month ago. Seams like we get some tomatoes in July then a dry spell them huge amounts in the early fall. We usually have a couple tables full of green ones that will get ripe until around Christmas
Last year peppers did not do as well as usual for us.

Here it’s around 300 tomato plants and about 200 pepper plants but nothing will be started until mid April and not planted until after Memorial Day, we’ve had too many late season freezes that damaged the plants.

snowy do you use grow lights? I never have and mine will come up and never get any bigger then yours no matter how long they are n the pots. I spoke to a guy that sells vegetables for a living and he said he never start squash. He said they don't really like being transplanted. I planted seeds outside last year when I moved my runt tomatoes out. They did fine. I plant winter squash.

No grow lights I do use heat pads till they are up. I think this year with all the sun they got everything was up in 6 days. It was a geed germination year. I use my own seed from the best of the best tomatoes each year also. They will be 18 to 20 plus inches tall when I transplant to garden.

MJM I don't like to start squash, melon and pumpkins in house but I plant them at the ranch and it works better for me because the pheasant and turkeys find every seed to plant. So, plants have worked better but I also put a few seeds along side the transplanted produce just for insurance that I get something.
Yes all those do just fine to come up for direct burial planting. I can say with plants things do set on faster then seed planting in garden. It is my experience anyway.

Mellons, squash, and cucumbers , don't trans plant every well.
Those are seed planted only for me.
LOL I found that volunteers that come up in the garden, ( tomatoes and peppers ) produce fruit just around 2 weeks after the transplants do.
So I let them grow where they are, don't move them or transplant them.
Sweet potatoes are easy to start, just put one up high, and it will sprout a bunch of slips .
Potatoes that have sprouts are always planted , even those that have sprouts a foot or more long, just bury it all but the very top leaves.
Same with tomatoes that get very long.

Looks like you will have enough to make some side money selling produce to your neighbors (or even better, barter for things)

Lots of people here speak English, the world has become pretty uniform and intertwined in many things. In my neighborhood, the majority of people of my age and younger speak English and many are fluent. The government is currently trying to ban Latin letters in brands and advertizing under "patriotic" pretexts, but their timing and common sense.... leave much to be desired.
