Going there the mid-part to end of June. My in-laws (including myself) aren't real big walleye people. I can target them and be somewhat successful. My in-laws are drop a bobber off the wide of the boat type of fishermen.

Is there any real opportunity for panfish on that lake? I caught some of the smallest perch ever there two ice seasons ago, and some small walleyes. Just wasn't sure if there were weed lines on that lake that may hold panfish (bluegill, rock bass, crappie, perch).

Not looking for spots. Just some hope lol

I can't tell you anything about the lake, other than it's only about 2.5 hours away from me. I sure hope you call when you're up so we can have a few beers again.

Are you bringing a boat? Otter tail county has some of the best pan fishing in the state unfortunately if you are locked into a cabin and rental boat on otter tail lake your pan fishing options are poor. I heard the perch are starting to come back ( used to produce a lot of eating size) years back.
Still a very good walleye lake and the bobber over the side of the boat with a leach for bait should put some fish in the boat for you.

Good lake about anything. But like said there are many lakes minutes from Ottertail Lake. Many of the are good panfishing.

We will have a rental pontoon. I think it will take my kayaks up north this year, however. Staying at Holly's Resort on the northwest side.

Because of the pontoon rental on the resort, we will not be able to take them elsewhere. May take the yaks to Blanche and Rush as I really have enjoyed the rock bass of Rush in the past.

Stuck on Ottertail and pontoon makes it rough, I would try Dead Lake with Kayak.
PM and I could give you some spots.

Rush is a good pan fish lake. Even take your kayaks north and west a bit towards Dent. Fished a few of those. Many good lakes in that area.

I live about 20 minutes from there. Ottertail Lake will be a tough one to sit and bobber fish all day. If you can make across the road via the river you can try Walker Lake. River is only a couple hundred yards from lake to lake if the water is high enough. Or the mouth of the river on either side wouldn’t be bad but not much for depths. Good luck

That is the only access point correct? No public landings.

Anything else to make the trip a little more of a success?

X2, excellent ice fishing for big sunnies/crappies. Never fished it in the summer but its a good overall lake, good bass fishing too.

I absolutely LOVED Rush Lake. Stayed at Shady Grove for two years when I met my now wife. They stayed there and fished Rush for 25 years straight til they closed.

Was just through that area yesterday. Ottertail River is open and the lakes are starting to open at the mouth of the river and any other lakes it runs through.

Since you have the pontoon boat. You can do some shad rapping on Ottertail. You will get walleye and northern. Also Rock bass.
I like to use shad rapping to explore the lake. Once you find the fish. Then you can pinpoint the better fishing.

My folks had a RV site on Rush Lakr. Very familiar with the area.

Now? I suspect there is ice floating around most lakes in that region

Star lake is just a few miles NW of Ottertail. There is a small bay with public landing on the Northeast side of the lake where we have caught tons of nice crappie, bluegills and walleyes casting jigs or using slip bobbers/jig/leech in mid June. It would be good kayak water. That was our annual trip for 20+ years

With the weather that is coming through the next few days it is going to look like winter all over again. Welcome to Minnesota!! This will slow the melt way down.
