I don't cook them overly well. Just bread and fry in butter until golden. Never got sick and we gorge on them lol. Is it possible you had false morels in your batch last year?
Gotta find a way, a better way, I'd better wait
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you

I had a friend that ended up in the hospital from false morels.
Personally morels are not my favorite mushroom, they are alright, but chanterelles are what I really like. They are a fall mushroom though. Chants are a fall mushroom there?? They come out in June here. I like both, but prefer morels just a bit.

Usually pop after the first good rain in the fall. I've picked thousands of pounds of them, back in high school I wouldn't take a job in the fall, I could make better money picking chantrelles after school than I could at any job. I don't know of any mushroom buyers where I live now though.

Makes me wonder how critters eat them and manage not to get sick….or maybe they do? We sliced the ones we got and fried them in butter. When you harvested them, did you pull them or cut them off at ground level?
Every time I laugh, cough, or sneeze, my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires.
