Guys , what is your notch preference on body grips and why??
On my 330s I use the tightest one on channel sets so that floating debris doesn’t get caught up in the trigger wires and fires off the trap prematurely.
How do use them in trails, boxes, etc for raccoons, mink, ?
Just like to hear everyone’s thoughts on how they like.

Always used the 3rd notch, just because..??, never used them enough to know if there was any advantage to the other notches...I assume the third notch has more smack down due to the more compressed spring....?
My SS 110 body grips just have one notch, so that's what gets set, lol

Whatever works on the trap. My 330s for beaver usually the tightest notch. My Bridger 120s may have 3 notches on the dog, but you aren't setting them on the tightest notch, the trap doesn't compress that far, always figured it was the same dog they used on other traps, and that was why it had an unusable notch. They usually get set on the middle notch, because if I use them with a T holder like pictured in the mink box thread, that sets them at the right width to fit the holder. Occasionally might set them in the outer notch in a box where the springs are what holds them in, but usually always set on the middle notch out of habit. Other brands and sizes, I couldn't tell you, just set them on the notch that works, looks, and feels the best.

File the notches to fire at different pressure for different applications.
Outside notch easiest firing ,inside notch harder firing.
You want easier firing in situations where the trap is out of or partially out of the water and harder firings if trap is set in or under water where there is current.

First notch that contacts the trigger. That notch is filed and tuned.

Beaver and coons in trails (or boxes), I use the 3rd notch, Mink 1st notch always, Rats whatever notch it get on as I set it usually 1 or 2 though. Remember trapping beaver with 330's etc triggers on the bottom wink
