Roy Weatherby liked bullet jump, just saying.
I like when energy stops at deer.
The 140 partitions at not max were aces.
Different variables though like Pa hill jack yardage
vs the long rangers.

My pet 270 is shot out and undergoing
gender cal. change. lol
But I have others.

When you shoot one out you learn what ya like.

I don’t know what you’re calling the Adams apple maybe the throat patch? You shoot a deer in the throat patch I don’t care if you’re using a 22 Long rifle solid knows it’s not just gonna stand there and look Stunned Not sure it will be standing at all. The kinetic energy behind a 270 no matter what bullet will drop a deer shot in the throat patch. Like I mentioned earlier I shot a 6 mm 87 gr and tried to go for throat patch hits for a reason. NTR. no tracking required. Had one deer that was a bad angle and it didn’t kill it instantly but it dropped like a rock. Laid for about a minute then tried to raise its head But then flopped

Let me rephrase it
IVE NEVER SEEN A DEER hit in the throat patch just stand there

I always thought the 85gr Barnes out of a 270 would make an awesome antelope combo.

If no vertebrae hit, neck shot can be bad.
Same with no rib bones hit.
Yeah they die..
Energy stop vs pass thru.

I'll take the Nos. Parts. over the Core Lokts
or GKs in 270 every time, from those experiences.

Meat? Straps loins and hinds,
it's not a cow.

But no dead deer pics on this reply so.

Well sir you are wrong. Might not happen very often but I caped out the deer completely myself I know exactly where the bullet hit and what gun was used. Sorry for the bad news. Facts are facts and opinions are opinions.

This deer wasn’t hit in the spinal column. Broadside at about 125 yards but I still take the neck shot. 130 gr federal factory ammunition. Not sure if that shot placement is close to the Adam’s apple but it worked on harvesting the doe. Some don't want to "ruin " the meat from a shoulder shot then neck shoot them. I do it because EVERY ONE of the deer I have neck shot are laying right there.

110 gr hornady hp's work well on deer, used them for years.

I would have considered building her a 6.8spc AR. Not much recoil with that.
