Wont find a finer catfish rid than an ugly stik tiger, a reel, abu 7000 c3 or penn squall/fathom

StCroix used to make a rod called the Classic Cat.

But, in the early 2000's a $130 catfish rod wasn't a great seller.

That was a little too expensive for catfishing demographic.

So of course they were discontinued.


I bought one cause im a sucker for marketing, and was obsessed with big cats. Then I found 2 more in the bargain bin at cabelas for $80 for the pair. They're fine rods, and I've been offered $300 apiece for them since.

Now days you can get the same basic actions in their muskie line.


Also the Daiwa SLOSH reels are a pretty good reels for that kind of stuff too. The SL20SH will cover about any cat situation you come across.

big cat fever rod, and a penn fathom 12, if your after 100#'ers get a fathom 15, they botth make 30# of drag. the avet MX raptor is another great reel.
