You'll never convince me that turkeys are smart.

They are nervous as all get out, but dumb as a rock.

I've seen plenty of roadkill turkeys around here. Maybe not as many as deer, but still plenty.

I can't say one way or the other but elk, deer and turkey are all dumb as a rock in mating/breeding time. I can tell you just like noted many times, if a turkey could smell you would never kill one very easy.

I have lived in the south for 55 years and never seen turkeys act like that - during anytime of the year - unless living under total protection. If they acted like that here, they would be the featured guest at the dinner table - and I dont care what time of the year

There is not a single town in the rural South where wild turkeys flock the streets and yards like they do in the Pacific NW US and maybe in New England towns.

Too many non-hunters in the PNW and NE locales. Turkeys down south don't stand a chance against the shotgun toting hordes of rednecks, LOL.

Reason we have them here like that is you can't hunt them in the neighborhoods, except for the odd sniped one, cool
People claim they stop traffic, chase them, and kinda act like they own the place...Staten Island is loaded with them and a lot of people are afraid of them, lol

These people are afraid of bugs too, so there's that.. grin
They roam the area like pets, know who feeds them, and will knock on your door if you're late with a hand out.....not so dumb...lol
