Does anyone use cages for lynx? Just curious, never seen it before on here. I’d assume they’d be too much of a burden to transport by snow machine. What about wolverine in cages?

I don't know any trapper who uses them regularly for lynx. They do work, but they are a pain to haul around.

When Colorado was getting lynx to reintroduce them many years ago, several AK trappers used cage traps to procure some for them (so that Colorado could proceed to close down trapping to protect the introduced cats!)

I think you'd need a cage of welded #4 rebar to hold a wolverine.

A couple old timers here cage trapped lynx regularly.
They built their cages out of poles and chicken wire out on their lines and used them year after year.Very effective set. They are not built to be moved around. They are permanent cages used year after year.
Never heard of anyone hauling around cages for cats.
A guy in BC wrote a good article on how to make the cage traps in the bush in one of the trapping mags years ago.I think he was the same guy that supplied 50 or 60 lynx for repopulating them somewhere in the states back in the day.

Cage traps were used quite a bit back when they made heavy gauge barrels.
