Here on the Island a BEC sandwich is huge for breakfast.... every deli, bagel store, diner, restaurant, or Bodega makes them....relatively cheap, easy to take and eat , and delicious....
Variations are sausage patty instead of bacon, cheese or no cheese, (always American), salt, pepper, hard roll, bagel, or toast....you put in your order and a few minutes a foil wrapped sandwich appears...
As popular as they are, you don't find them in the rest of the country, every non pat that's left here complain you can't get one where they now live....
Anyone else have a regional specialty you can get fast and go? I know the kids in Texas can get a breakfast Burrito everywhere....but they ain't the same!, lol

Can't find deli, bagel store, diner, restaurant, or Bodega here in rural E. KS. BBQ is a different story. Meat cooked on hickory wood fires and served with dippin sauce. Its not smothered with sauce and then cooked.

egg sandwiches are common here
usually on a croissant or English muffin here
egg bacon , sausage , Canadian bacon or ham as the meat cheese , this is only optional unless you are lactose intolerant or a fib.
Kwik Trip must sell 10K of them a morning in one variation or another.
we make / made them at home
I am more likely to make it a scramble now and toss it in a low carb tortilla because I can limit my carbs that way better. and maybe jaz it up with a little sour cream and salsa , still wraps up nice in foil I use the cheap normal carb tortillas for my son as they are cheap and easy to store for up to about a month in the fridge.
I don't keep much bread around
but if you do and you want to try a slightly different take on it , the kids called it toad in a hole , you rip the center out of your slice of bread and eat that , then in your hot skillet with some butter drop the hollowed out slice of bread and crack and egg in the middle , the bread functions as a egg form , now you just let it cook most of the way and give it a flip , you can keep a runny yoke but not make a big mess with the samich

Almost every convenience store down here sells them.... nearly 100% on biscuits though. Biscuits are okay but English muffins are my preference.
Gotta find a way, a better way, I'd better wait

The removed circle gets fried in the same butter as the egg and rest of the bread. Then served with it for dipping etc. Haven’t had that in a while. Made a snow goose bf sausage and fresh asparagus & egg casserole this morning. Good stuff! ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2026/04/full-10490-291252-img_7962.jpeg)

That happened to us in Minnesota 20 years ago. Went to 5 places they had no idea whatsoever but the 5th place had biscuits made up and was starting cream gravy for a CFS lunch and we coached the cook through it.
True story.

My dad used to make sandwich he called an "outsemider".. Fied egg, ham and cheese on toast with miracle whip. No idea where he came up with the name, but I whip one up on occasion in his memory.

Every supermarket and quick stop has several variations of them here. My wife is a teacher that has her kids cook every once in a while if they behave. Toad in the hole is one of their favorites and all you need is a griddle in the classroom to cook on.

I don't know about your Dunkins but I tried one of those BEC's at a local Dunkin and it was not very good. I still go there for the coffee but never to eat.
Eh...wot?
